Summary of Sermon preached on Sunday, August 15, 2021

Introduction:  Summary of Sermon preached on Sunday, August 15, 2021

This sermon talks about the fact that the Lord controls the life of each person, not only at the time of death when the spirit He has given to that person returns to Him (Ecclesiastes 12: 7), but everyday throughout that person’s life.

Psalm 139: 1 – 12 states the Lord knows “my downsitting and mine uprising”; He understands my thoughts afar off; He “compassest my path and my lying down”; He is “acquainted with all my ways”.  The Lord is acquainted with all of your ways because He knows everything that you are doing every moment of every day and every night.

For the children of the Lord, when our lives are done on this earth, what awaits us is an eternal body that the Lord God will give to us so we can live with Him for eternity (2 Corinthians 5: 1).

1 Timothy 1: 17 states:  “Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever.  Amen.”

Our King, the eternal Lord Jesus, will be with us for eternity and that is why we will also have an eternal body.

You will be blessed.

Summary of Sermon preached on Sunday, August 15, 2021

We listened to a sermon titled God’s Contentment, CD # 1336, preached by Brother Neal Frisby on 10/28/90 (AM).

In the sermon, Brother Frisby said:

The Lord has a contentment for His children, that is, satisfaction in the soul.

If you believe God’s promises, they become like a vision to you.

God wants His people to be happy, to have peace, joy, contentment and health.

2 Timothy 1: 12 states:  “for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.”

2 Corinthians 9: 8:  “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work”.

Praise the Lord and keep your mind on the Lord; He will provide you “all sufficiency in all things”.

The riches of the Lord are unsearchable.

When you seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, then you will have the contentment of the Lord.

The Lord has given us His eternal values.

I am able to do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Everything is already known to the Lord; He is infinite; if you can believe this, then you can have whatsoever you say.

My grace is sufficient for you (2 Corinthians 12: 9).

The Lord wants us to have faith that does not disappear.

Ephesians 3: 20:  “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.”  The Lord will do for you more than you can ask or think.

You can have the contentment of the Lord, the joy of the Lord, if you want it.

The Lord will bless you spiritually, physically and materially if you can be contended in the Lord.

Patience in the Lord will work your problems out.  Just before the coming of the Lord, there will be a lack of patience among the people.  You want to have patience in the Lord.

In your patience, you possess your soul (Luke 21: 19).

Have patience, the Lord is coming soon.

Contentment will let you have patience.

All things are possible to him that believeth.

Hebrews 13: 5 states:  “and be content with such things as ye have:  for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”

Be contended with what you have, and the Lord will give you more.

Before you pray, the Lord knows what you need (Isaiah 65: 24).

Nothing shall be impossible to them that believeth.

Abraham was a friend of God because He cherished the words of God.

Proverbs 30: 5 states:  “Every word of God is pure”.  Psalm 12: 6 states:  “The words of the LORD are pure words”.  It means the words of the Lord do not fail, they do not lie.

The Spirit of the Lord quickeneth the believer to the promises of God, in addition to Him changing the body at the time of the resurrection.

Psalm 19: 7:  “The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul:  the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.”

The Holy Spirit will guide you; the Holy Spirit will teach you the word of God.

Psalm 119: 105:  “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”

I started the sermon.

Ecclesiastes 12: 7:  “Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was:  and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.”

The Lord controls the life of each person, not only at the time of death when the spirit He has given to that person returns to Him, but everyday throughout that person’s life.

Luke 12: 16 – 20:  “And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:  And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?  And he said, This will I do:  I will pull  down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.  And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.  But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee:  then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?”

God told this rich man:  “this night thy soul shall be required of thee”, showing it was the Lord, and not the man, that was in control of his life.

Psalm 139: 1 – 12:  “O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me.  Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.  Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.  For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.  Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.  Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.  Whither shall I go from thy spirit?  or whither shall I flee from thy presence?  If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there:  if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.  If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.  If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.  Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day:  the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.”

This Scripture states the Lord knows “my downsitting and mine uprising”; He understands my thoughts afar off; He “compassest my path and my lying down”; He is “acquainted with all my ways.”

It means the Lord knows when you go to bed and when you wake up.  He is acquainted with all of your ways because He knows everything that you are doing every moment of every day and every night.

The Lord is infinite.  He is aware of what you are doing every moment of your life just as He is aware, at the same time, of what every other person on this earth is doing.

This Scripture further states:  “Whither shall I go from thy spirit?  or whither shall I flee from thy presence?  If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there:  if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.  If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.”

It means there is no place where you can escape the presence of the Lord God Almighty.

This Scripture also states:  “If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.  Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day:  the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.”

The fact that it may be dark where you are has no bearing on the Lord.  He sees you the same as when you have light surrounding you.

Matthew 10: 29 – 30:  “Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing?  and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.  But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.”

It means the Lord is aware of what happens to every creature and He has to give the approval before anything can happen to any of them.

This Scripture further states:  “But the very hairs of your head are all numbered” which further shows the Lord knows everything about you.

Isaiah 40: 25 -26:  “To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal?  saith the Holy One.  Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number:  he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth.”

The Lord has created the trillions of stars in the heavens.  The Lord has a name for each one of them.  He is aware of what is going on with each of these creations.

Isaiah 46: 9-10:  “Remember the former things of old:  for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me.  Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure”.

The Lord can tell you now everything that will happen in the future.  He declares “the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done”.  His counsel shall stand and He will do all of His pleasure.

Revelation 4: 11:  “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power:  for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.”

The Lord has created all things and for His pleasure “they are and were created.”

Colossians 1: 16 – 17 describes the Lord Jesus:  “For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers:  all things were created by him, and for him:  And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.”

It is the Lord Jesus that has created all things for He is the eternal God.  It makes no difference where these things are located; it makes no difference whether they are visible or invisible or “whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers”.  All things were created by Him and for Him.  He is “before all things, and by him all things consist.”

Psalm 33: 11:  “The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.”

It means the Lord’s plan for all generations will take place.

Psalm 135: 6:  “Whatsoever the LORD pleased, that did he in heaven, and in earth, in the seas, and all deep places.”

It is whatsoever the Lord pleases that He does at every place of His creation.

I read from Special Writing # 036 “THE WILL OF GOD IN ONE’S LIFE”

My letter of encouragement this time concerns the will of God in one’s life!  Yes, the Lord knows you even more personally than you know yourself!  In His infinite love and wisdom He has a plan for you and every person born in this world!  It is a definite plan; and He is nudging you into your place!  He foresees all who are to be born; He sees the coming of each one!

I continued with the Sermon:

This writing shows that in the Lord’s “infinite love and wisdom He has a plan for you and every person born in this world”.  The plan that the Lord has for each human being is based on His “infinite love and wisdom”.  He paid the price for our salvation on the cross; he tasted death for each person.

Hebrews 2: 9 states:  “But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.”

Romans 11: 33 – 36:  “O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God!  how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!  For who hath known the mind of the Lord?  or who hath been his counsellor?  Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again?  For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things:  to whom be glory for ever.  Amen.”

We cannot measure “the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God”.  We cannot measure the eternal love of God for us.

For the children of the Lord, when our lives are done on this earth, what awaits us?  2 Corinthians 5: 1 states:  “For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.”

What awaits us is an eternal body that the Lord God will give to us so we can live with Him for eternity.

1 Timothy 1: 17:  “Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever.  Amen.”

Our King, the eternal Lord Jesus, will be with us for eternity and that is why we will also have an eternal body.

He is the only wise God; to Him “be honour and glory for ever and ever.  Amen.”
