Introduction: Summary of Sermon preached on Sunday, November 12, 2023 We find a beautiful story of Joseph foreshadowing a type of Christ. A miracle was involved in Joseph’s birth (Genesis 30: 22 – 24). Christ was born even more so miraculously. He was greatly beloved of his father, Joseph was, Genesis 37: 3. Christ was the Father’s beloved, in John 3: 16. He was the Father’s beloved. In fact, they were so close, saith the Lord, you cannot separate them. So close, the Father and the Son, they cannot be separated. Isaiah 9: 6: “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” The Lord Jesus is the Father; He is the mighty God (Isaiah 9: 6). He is the Holy Spirit (Matthew 1: 20 – 25). He was rejected of his brethren, Genesis 37: 18. Christ was rejected of His own brethren, John 1: 11. His brethren disbelieved in his claims. Jesus’ brethren did not in His claims, either, the Messiah. Innocent, he was placed in a dungeon, Genesis 39: 20. Jesus, at death, was innocent and was taken to the cross and went into hades, into the prison house of the spirits. He was taken out of the dungeon and he was exalted, in Genesis 41: 14. Jesus was raised from Sheol and He was exalted in the right hand of power, both of them the same way. Joseph, at his time of entering into the ministry over Egypt, was 30 years old, when Pharaoh exalted him into his position at that time. Jesus was 30 years old when He went forth to deliver His brethren. Joseph was made lord of all of Egypt in Genesis 41. Christ will become the Lord of lords and King of kings of the whole world, Revelation 19: 16. Joseph’s brethren knew him not, when they come before him. Christ’s brethren, the Jews, knew Him not, their Messiah, Romans 11:25 The Lord Jesus will be going back to the Jews, with Moses and Elijah, during the great tribulation period. He will open their eyes to let them know that He is the Messiah, the Almighty God, and those that are truly His will come to salvation. Romans 11: 1: “I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.” Romans 11: 11 – 12: “I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy. Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness?” Romans 11: 15: “For if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?” You will be blessed. Summary of Sermon preached on Sunday, November 12, 2023 We listened to a sermon titled “Prophetic Foretype”, CD # 1006, Part One, preached by Brother Neal Frisby. In the sermon, Brother Frisby said: We find a beautiful story of Joseph foreshadowing a type of Christ. And how great compassion in his heart. He did not have a vengeful spirit. He didn’t have a get even spirit. It was something that God Himself had to create and so the Lord said, the way that Joseph conducted his life, and the way that he did, that He, somehow, the Lord will come on and foretype His own self, coming to the people, the Messiah. Now Moses, in many respects, typed the Messiah too and some more prophets, but none like Joseph. His life was a foretype of the Messiah, long centuries later that will come. Like Joseph, He will come and be rejected by His brethren, but afterwards, He will be highly exalted in power. A miracle was involved in Joseph’s birth, Genesis 30: 1, 22. Christ was born even more so miraculously. It was a super birth, supernaturally, even more so than Joseph’s, Genesis 30: 22. Now remember, this is the one that Jacob wanted in the first place. And he had to go 14 years and it was promised in 7, but he didn’t. And finally, he got Rachel. But he had to take the other one too. And then, after waiting so long to get her, something was beneath her that was different than the other girl, that the prophets only can see. And of course, the other girl had some of the tribes, or most of the other children. And only the two, Rachel finally had. And of that Joseph comes the seed of the Messiah, not through Leah, and somehow, Jacob could see something there. And now that after getting Rachel, she couldn’t have any children. And years, even longer, went by, than what he had to wait to get her. So the other one began to have children. And all the ten boys came first before Joseph. Finally, it said, the Lord hearkened unto Rachel. How happy she was going to be because it was like something she could not get over with, seeing the other women and the maid servants, having children, but not her. Genesis 30: 23 – 24. You fool with Joseph; you get another one. In the Hebrew word, Joseph means “to add” or “added”. And everything he touched multiplied. So she knew when God gave the name Joseph to her, that that meant another one was coming, little Benjamin. Only the two, and Jacob was so proud. Now them other boys were renegades. They were mean and I mean, they got into more trouble than he ever thought he could get in ten lifetimes. He could not control them. But he finally, he got Joseph and he was so proud. It kind of made the other boys envious because he was so close to him, you couldn’t, hardly separate them. And he knew all those years waiting for Rachel, all those years waiting for him, many, many, years, all ten boys had come at that time and he had to wait. And he put a rainbow coat to keep track of him ahead of the other boys so he could spot him. He didn’t want to lose him. He knew he had something precious. It was heaven’s choice, this rainbow. And he put the coat of many colors on him. Of course, it made the brethren mad. And also, Jacob knew that they were crooked. And he knew that they wouldn’t do right with the cattle or sheep, but Joseph would catch it. So he put that coat on so they could see him coming and get their house in order. He could spot anything. Jacob gave him a chance. Because when he had his pencil, you would have ten thousand cattle, ten thousand sheep and camel and all of that multiplying , massively over a week or two, at a time, and he would come back, he won’t miss a one. He would know if one was gone or one was there. He was like the Messiah, He will not miss a thing. He will get everything that is His. And everything that He doesn’t want, He doesn’t want, He cast out. You could not separate the two, hardly at all. But she got the answer to her prayer and had one more little Benjamin. So it was, a miraculous birth that was involved in that God opened her womb and, in that Jesus, came supernaturally. He was the seed of His own word. He was greatly beloved of his father, Joseph was, Genesis 37: 3. Christ was the Father’s beloved, in John 3: 16. He was the Father’s beloved. In fact, they were so close, saith the Lord, you cannot separate them. Revelation dropped in there, didn’t it? Divine revelation. So close, the Father and the Son, they cannot be separated. How about the rainbow? He’s sitting at the throne like Joseph’s coat. His mantle wrapped right around Him, behind Him. Sure, throne is rainbow. Christ was the seed of His own word in John Chapter 1. The word with God, the word was God and the word become flesh and dwelt among us. He was the seed of His own word. Glory. He was rejected of his brethren, Genesis 37: 18. Christ was rejected of His own brethren, John 1: 11. His own turned upon Him and rejected Him, the same as Joseph’s. What a pitiful story that Joseph had to suffer so much because, not only was he different, but been a prophet and been like a little fella so high over grown men nearly. That he was so sharp and knew everything and honest. And Jacob got a honest one. And he had the pencil and his very name that she named him, “added”, means she’ll get another one, but “added” means he multiplied, subtracted, added and so forth. He was a pen man, he’d done that in Egypt, very good at it, like a computer, for he was really good at it. And besides that, he had visions and dreams and he was a strange little fella. And he even looked strange to them and he acted strange to them and he did not understand them at all. He came from another woman, Rachel. He didn’t come from their mother. And he did not understand them at all. They didn’t understand him, either. And they called him a dreamer. His brethren disbelieved in his claims. When he told them how that the stars were shown to him and bowed over and how that will be the tribes and how the corn bowed over too and how he would control the world at one time. They didn’t believe that, but Jacob kept it in his heart. Probably in his heart, if he keeps going like he is, young little fellow, he probably will take over, no tellings what will happen. So he kept the coat to watch after him, but that wouldn’t good enough; them other boys got him. They disbelieved his claims that he had. Jesus’ brethren did not in His claims, either, the Messiah. He was sold for 20 pieces of silver by his brethren, Genesis 37: 28. Jesus was sold for 30 pieces of silver by one of His brethren in Matthew 27: 3. One was 20 pieces of silver that Joseph was sold into slavery and they thought, left for dead. And Jesus was sold for 30 pieces of silver, hundreds of years later. The Roman empire ruled the world. I’m not so sure on this, but I do know inflation came with the Roman empire. And I know that they were heavily inflated and they trimmed their coins. So therefore, 20 pieces of silver in Joseph’s time was as much as 30 pieces of silver in Christ’s time. God does not change; it was exact value, 20 pieces of silver still. If that was the case, the Lord’s hitting better than all of us. So, it was exact value, because we know that in Roman empire, they created inflation during that age of time there, than has ever been before, to keep care of their empire. Innocent, he was placed in a dungeon, Genesis 39: 20. Jesus, at death, was innocent and was taken to the cross and went into hades, into the prison house of the spirits. He went below, 1 Peter 3: 18, 20. The Bible said that He went below and revealed and blowed away the gates of hell, just blow everything back, where those that were lost were at, and those during the flood days and the ones that have been judged. And He revealed Himself as the Messiah, that truly had come as the Old Testament prophets had told them that He would come. And it said that He was down in the bottom and he was preaching to those people because He’s fixing to remove, in another place, a gulf, and then take on up higher and exalted in Paradise, in a different place, but leaving the others there. But He did preach to them and He witnessed to them. In one place, the angels chained, these were some of the ones that got in trouble during the flood. They are not like fallen angels, and they are not like demons or evil spirits, but these have been judged already, and Satan included, is cast out and finally will be put in the lake of fire. But they were chained. Peter said during that time. It has something to do with the flood. They will have to stand before the Saints. Did you not know that Saints will judge angels? That means, the type that were there during the flood. It is a deep secret. But it was during that time that Peter was talking about, during the flood, and also that Paul was talking about. That He went down below, where these places are and revealed Himself. Joseph went into the dungeon. There he revealed himself to, by vision and by knowledge and so forth like that, to those that were in there. He was taken out of the dungeon and he was exalted, in Genesis 41: 14. Jesus was raised from Sheol and He was exalted in the right hand of power, both of them the same way. Joseph was taken out of the dungeon or the jail. He was innocent, but yet he was put in there. Jesus was innocent, but yet He had to go through that. Both of them were typing everything out and He was exalted. Joseph, at his time of entering into the ministry over Egypt, was 30 years old, when Pharaoh exalted him into his position at that time. Jesus was 30 years old when He went forth to deliver His brethren. And Joseph went forth to deliver his brethren to come out of a great famine. And so we find out, both of them was the same age, typing it perfectly in order, as we see it there. Joseph had a seal; he had a ring. It’s like the mark of Pharaoh, except it was a ring. Jesus was marked by the Holy Spirit and He had a ring around His head, the fire. And when He touched them, they were healed. Also, Joseph, although he is a good one, will be a type, and foreshadows, because he’s so much like Christ was, that the Antichrist will be similar to Joseph, only in an evil way. He also will get all of the food and the money and everything in his hands and he will mark the people. Remember, they said Joseph, you’ve got everything, all of it, everything and our ground and everything and he gave them back some ground. He said, we will now mark us, we will be your slaves. At the end of the age, everything comes in the hand of that system. Finally, there is a mark given. But Joseph had the seal of goodness, going forth. And he took over and was exalted and took over the whole Egyptian empire, that’s absolutely fact, all of it was taken over. And Jesus will take everything at the end. So, Christ was raised up and exalted. Joseph was made lord of all of Egypt in Genesis 41. Christ will become the Lord of lords and King of kings of the whole world, Revelation 19: 16. Taken out of there, He will become Lord of lords and King of kings. Joseph was taken out of dungeon; he was exalted and became lord of all of Egypt and king of kings. Pharaoh just went into the background and turned it over to him. Joseph’s brethren knew him not, when they come before him. Jacob had the staff, the old rod. Joseph had the cup that he saw things in; he divineth. You know today, they’ve imitated that. The fortune tellers with their tea leaves in a cup trying to see something. He broke into visions and he put the cup in little Benjamin. That was his only true little brother he had. The rest of them were half-brothers. And he put the little cup in there. And when they caught him, it said you stole my master’s cup, he said he divineth with. In that cup, when God will visit him, he may be sitting around drinking water or something, and there’ll be something appear. He could see spies coming, he could see all kinds. And evidently, he may even be able to see his father at times because God will not let him go. With all the power he had in Egypt, he could go anywhere he wanted to go, because he controlled everything, but he didn’t, God held him back. But then he asked later on, he said, Is my father, doth he yet live? Because God had not shown him lately. He did not really know, that part of it. But any other thing that God will reveal, some things were hidden from him in order to bring out the drama. So Jacob and his old staff with the prophets, and Joseph, here is another young one, he had a cup. Some think it is magic; it’s not. It’s like the gift of wisdom and knowledge and in the cup, it was also a cup of sorrows. Because, sometimes, what he saw in there was sorrowful. And in other things, it was a cup of delight. When he saw his brethren, it was a cup of delight. When he saw the famine and all of these things coming, and the different things across the land, it was a cup of sorrows, but to deliver his brother, it was delight that he would see. And evidently, God told him what wife to marry that way. He married a Gentile bride. Christ will marry a Gentile bride. He did not take a Jewish bride. He took a Gentile woman. The same as Christ will have a Gentile bride. Can’t you see it typing itself, just thunder and thunder in there. He’s doing two things in his life and God chose him to do that. So we find out the cup of sorrows. What did Jesus say? Are ye able to take this cup? To his disciples. Are ye able to drink from this cup that I have? It was a cup of sorrows. But afterwards, Jesus said it’s a cup of delight. My cup runneth over, the Psalmist said. And the Psalmist, the same way, will type out Christ in some of his writings, as if he was the very one that was there suffering what the Messiah would go through. It’s written all over the Psalms, David done that. He was a type in many different ways. So we find out, the cup of sorrows and the cup of delight. Jesus mentioned that cup. Joseph had that cup. And however, whatever it did, and however it worked, he didn’t receive all of his things that way, but some important things he could see, because he divineth, meaning he knew secrets out of it. He could see things and know things that no one else knew, but it is definitely not like any fortune teller. He is beyond that, a million ways. God didn’t put no fortune teller as head of Egypt. He put a real man of God there and he was strange too. And here comes the staff and the cup together later. They brought the cup back. Joseph’s brethren knew him not. Christ’s brethren, the Jews, knew Him not, their Messiah, Romans 11:25. He appeared, He was the Messiah. Abraham saw my day. Daniel and all of the prophets wrote about it. They said we don’t know you, we do not know the Messiah. Yet the Messiah could raise the dead, voices from heaven, thundered from heaven, glorifying His name. All of the miraculous was with Him. All the powers surrounded Him. Yet they knew Him not. Joseph surrounded, with visions and dreams, rainbow and power, they cared nothing about it. They didn’t know about it. They were jealous of Christ and His miracles. Joseph’s brethren went through a seven-year period of testing, Genesis Chapter 41, Genesis 42: 21. Joseph’s brethren, they went through a testing of famine until they were broken and they had to leave and come up to Egypt to get food. And there was severe test. And also, at the same time, Joseph was fixing to test them, according to the Holy Spirit. Christ brethren will go through a seven-year period of testing, in Jeremiah and all the Scriptures tell us about the great tribulation and during that time, of the great tribulation, will also be a severe famine that the world has never seen and that’s how the Antichrist being to get complete control, mark for food. That was how Joseph finally wound up with complete control, and Pharaoh gave it to him, it was in the food. And now we find out that during the great tribulation, according to Revelation Chapter 11 and other Scriptures, the four horses of apocalypse and also in Joel, there’s a famine also, that’s universal, until they die by the millions and hundreds of millions during that time, the great famine that comes upon the earth. So we find out a severe testing came through a great tribulation for the Jews during that time, Jacob and them coming to see Joseph. We find out at the end of the age, the Jews again, are tested severely, and through a great type of famine and a type of great tribulation upon the earth and their enemies are all around them. But like Joseph, the Messiah is watching them and the Messiah will bring them out, the ones that are really the true seed. It will be just like Joseph, He will step in there. Joseph made himself known to his brethren, finally. First, they didn’t know who he was. They could not figure out. He was in his 30s now, about 37 when he saw them really. He started at 30 over Egypt. It was close to the ending of that famine. They didn’t know him at all, but he knew them and he recognized them. And he was hidden from them. They didn't know him, till he revealed himself to them. But he had to do it that way or they would have fled, they couldn’t have believed it all. He brought it just like God told him. Jesus will make Himself known to His brethren again, Zechariah 12: 10. You remember when it said He appeared to them and they looked at Him and He said where did you get the scars. He said in the house of my friends. And the same thing could be said about being cast in a dungeon, in a pit. He was in a pit first before he went to prison, and left for dead, sold into slavery. And Joseph could have said the same thing. The scars that I have suffered in my life, I got them in the house of my brethren, my friends. And then Jesus said, He reveals Himself to His brethren, who He is at the end of the age and all of those that will be saved during the Jewish time there. Joseph nourished his family and was united with them. And Joseph united his father and his brethren together, brought them together, united them together, nourished them, wiping away their tears. Joseph broke down and cried too, because he cried for his brethren, like Christ. And it came in such a way, an impact from the Holy Spirit and he nourished his brethren and at the end of the age, after He makes Himself known, Christ will protect and nourish His brethren and then shall away all tears from their eyes, Revelation 7: 14, 17. And it says, Jesus will wipe away all the tears from them. And Joseph wiped away their tears. In the millennium, Jesus will allot the ground for the twelve tribes. Two will be united again that were taken out. And He will unite them and give each one a portion of earth on the ground. When Joseph’s brethren came and he wiped away their tears, and nourished them with the food that he had in Egypt, he chose ground and allotted them ground that they could have and he gave them, each tribe and all of them, a portion of ground. And Jesus said, if you will read it in Ezekiel, when they build the millennium Temple, that He again goes to appointing them portions of ground, each tribe, like Joseph did, and will take care of them. The only thing is you can’t stop Joseph from multiplying. God said, unto Joseph, give him twice as much ground, give him two portions over all the rest. He cannot stop, can he? Isn’t that something from the time he was born, it means “to add”. It was added unto him all his life. See, when he stayed with God through all severe testing, what testing he had to go through, all his brethren turned on him, taken from his father he loved so much and his father loved him and put away all of those years and then after becoming lord, power, he could have sent an army an destroyed every one of them on their way, vengeance and so forth, he didn’t and to hold back and to wait, until God said you can’t go down there and all of those years he had to wait, till he was 30 something years old. All of that time, but he waited and how great it was to watch God bring the drama to a close. Jacob a prophet, Joseph a prophet. One with a staff, one with a cup of sorrows and a cup of delight. It turned into the cup of delight for this family. And the cup of sorrows that Jesus took to the cross will turn into the cup of delight and then in the Kingdom of God, He will drink whatever it is He said again, juice or whatever, with His Kingdom. His wife, he married a Gentile woman. Jesus will have a Gentile bride, a type of the church. How many of you believe you are here for a reason, like Joseph was, that you are a type, God spoke about? And I believe He never forgot Joseph and He will not forget you.
I started the sermon: He was greatly beloved of his father, Joseph was, Genesis 37: 3. His wife, he married a Gentile woman. Jesus will have a Gentile bride, a type of the church. I read from Scroll # 154: ANGELS AND THE ELECT – “Men have often wondered when their bodies are glorified and changed how will they rank with the angels? – In the world to come, the righteous are equal to angels! (Luke 20: 36) – In some respects and ways the redeemed will excel angels; for the overcomers will be the ‘very bride’ of Christ! – A privilege which is not given to angels! There is no higher position for created beings than those in the Bride of Christ!” (Rev. 19: 7-9)
The Lord Jesus will be going back to the Jews, with Moses and Elijah, during the great tribulation period. Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness?” Romans 11: 15: “For if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?”
