Introduction: Summary of Sermon preached on Sunday, June 13, 2021

This sermon talks about the Angel of the Lord being the Lord God Himself.

Angels of the Lord were created by Him to minister to us who have salvation.  Hebrews 1: 14:  “Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?”

The fact that the Lord God comes as an Angel, as the Angel of the Lord, gives us a clue that He is also here to minister to us.

What then is the whole purpose of the Lord God Almighty ministering to us as the Angel of the Lord?  It is to get us ready for the translation, that we may be glorified.

The Angel of the Lord will let you know that you will overcome all things and sit with Him on His throne for eternity (Revelation 3: 21).  He will let you know that you will inherit all things of God for eternity (Revelation 21: 7).  He will let you know that you are a joint-heir with Him for eternity (Romans 8: 16 – 17).  Just to have these thoughts in your heart is a blessing.

Summary of Sermon preached on Sunday, June 13, 2021

We listened to a sermon titled “The Angel Of The Lord”, CD # 778, preached by Brother Neal Frisby on 3/26/80 (PM).

In the sermon, Brother Frisby said:

The Angel of the Lord is with His people.

The Angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear Him; He is with us; He will protect us; He will keep His hand upon us.

The Lord and the Angel of the Lord are one and the same person.

He is the God Angel; He is the prophet Angel.

The Angel of the Lord is different from the other Angels because He is the Creator of the Angels; He is the God of the Angels.

He was the Pillar of fire in the Old Testament and He is the Bright and Morning Star in the New Testament.

Jesus is the Angel of the Lord.

He was the veil of fire that was in the burning bush.

Just as Moses turned around to see the flame of fire in the burning bush, God’s people will turn around to see the Bright and Morning Star at this end of time; they will  see the great anointing of the Lord working among them.

In the midst of the glory of God, people want to go back to the old system, the great falling away from the presence of the Lord.

The Lord comes to us as the Angel of the Lord.

He was the Captain of the host with a sword to Joshua (Joshua 5: 13 -15).

When you see the Angel of the Lord, you are seeing the Lord.

The Angel of the Lord stood as Jesus in front of the Jews.  They rejected Him just as they rejected the Lord in the Old Testament.

He was the great wheel (O Wheel) that Ezekiel saw (Ezekiel 10: 13).

The Angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph and He was the one who ruled Egypt through Joseph.

The Angel of the Lord appeared as a man to Abraham (Genesis 18: 1 – 15).  He made a covenant with Abraham.

The Angel of the Lord appeared to Elijah by the cave and told him He had reserved 7,000 people that had stayed true to Him (1 Kings 19: 9 – 18).

The Angel of the Lord is the Star out of Jacob (Numbers 24: 17).

The Star out of Jacob came in the New Testament as the Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ.

The glory of the Lord can be photographed.

The Angel of the Lord was the one that appeared to Ezekiel with fire running from His loins upward and from His loins downward (Ezekiel 1: 26 -27; Ezekiel 8: 2 -3).

There will be a world-wide awakening to the children of the Lord, a quick short work.

The Angel of the Lord can appear in many forms, but it is the same person, the Lord Jesus, the eternal God.

The Angel of the Lord is revealing mysteries to His people at this end of time.

Hebrews 13: 2:  “Be not forgetful to entertain strangers:  for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.”

I started the sermon:

Genesis 32: 24 – 30:  “And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.  And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.  And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh.  And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.  And he said unto him, What is thy name?  And he said, Jacob.  And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel:  for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.  And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name.  And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name?  And he blessed him there.  And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel:  for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.”

This Scripture tells us that God was in the form of a man which made it possible for Jacob to wrestle with Him.  The Lord changed the name of Jacob to Israel.  Jacob then asked this man (that is, God in the form of a man) His name, but He declined to tell him His name.  Jacob realized He had seen God; he stated:   “for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.”

Exodus 3: 1 – 6:  “Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian:  and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb.  And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush:  and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.  And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.  And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses.  And he said, Here am I.  And he said, Draw not nigh hither:  put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.  Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.  And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.”

The Angel of the Lord appeared to Moses as a flame of fire in the midst of a bush.  We are told that the Angel of the Lord was the Lord God Himself, for it states:  “And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush”.  The Angel of the Lord further states:  “I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.  And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.”

Verse 13 – 14:  “And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name?  what  shall I say unto them?  And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM:  and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.”

Moses asked God for His name.  The Lord simply described Himself as “I AM THAT I AM”.

Judges 6: 11 – 12:  “And there came an angel of the LORD, and sat under an oak which was in Ophrah, that pertained unto Joash the Abiezrite:  and his son Gideon threshed wheat by the winepress, to hide it from the Midianites.  And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him, and said unto him, The LORD is with thee, thou mighty man of valour.”

Verse 14 – 16:  “And the LORD looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites:  have not I sent thee?  And he said unto him, Oh my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel?  behold, my family is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house.  And the LORD said unto him, Surely I will be with thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites as one man.”

In these verses, the Angel of the Lord is described as the Lord God Himself.  He sat under an oak and appeared to Gideon.

Judges 13: 2 – 3:  “And there was a certain man of Zorah, of the family of the Danites, whose name was Manoah; and his wife was barren, and bare not.  And the angel of the LORD appeared unto the woman, and said unto her, Behold now, thou art barren, and bearest not:  but thou shalt  conceive, and bear a son.”

Verse 6:  “Then the woman came and told her husband, saying, A man of God came unto me, and his countenance was like the countenance of an angel of God, very terrible:  but I asked him not whence he was, neither told he me his name”.

Verse 11:  “And Manoah arose, and went after his wife, and came to the man, and said unto him, Art thou the man that spakest unto the woman?  And he said, I am.”

Verse 17 – 18:  “And Manoah said unto the angel of the LORD, What is thy name, that when thy sayings come to pass we may do thee honour?  And the angel of the LORD said unto him, Why askest  thou thus after my name, seeing it is secret?”

In these verses, the Angel of the Lord appeared as a man.  Manoah asked for His name, but He declined to give it; he said “it is secret”.

The eternal God, appearing as the Angel of the Lord, who declined to disclose His name in the Old Testament, has now given us His name in the New Testament.

Isaiah 9: 6 tells us that the Lord God would be born as a man:  “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”  Jesus is “The mighty God’.

Matthew 1: 21 gives us the name of the eternal God that would be born:  “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS:  for he shall save his people from their sins.”

Thus, the name of “The mighty God” is Jesus.  He came to save us from our sins and to give us eternal life.

Acts 12: 1 – 10:  “Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church.  And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.  And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also.  (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)  And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.  Peter therefore was kept in prison:  but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.  And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains:  and the keepers before the door kept the prison.  And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison:  and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly.  And his chains fell off from his hands.  And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals.  And so he did.  And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.  And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.  When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord:  and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him.”

The Angel of the Lord that appeared to Moses in the burning bush is the same Angel of the Lord that appeared to Peter and brought him out of the prison.

I read from Scroll # 154:

WHAT ABOUT THE ANGELS?  – “They are a fascinating part of God’s kingdom and they do their duties well!  They are the princes of heaven who stand before God!  They are also ministering spirits to those who are heirs of salvation!” – Rev. 5: 11, “implies that there are hundreds of millions of angels! . . . Angels are immortal and they do not die! (Luke 20: 36) – Angels are spoken of in the masculine gender! . . . They are said to be innumerable!” (Heb. 12: 22) – “There are different types and various orders of angels!  Perhaps we can write more on this in a moment! . . . But right now the reason the spirit is revealing this is because of the nature of the coming of world events and crises, more angels are going to intervene and be dispersed upon the earth!  Because the Lord is going to raise up a standard against
satan’s onslaught and protect God’s children preparing the translation!”

THE ANGELS FLIGHT –  “The movement of angels is remarkable!  In an instant they can appear from heaven before us or from one part of the Universe to the other without passing through the rest of it!” – “To understand these supernatural appearances we would have to compare them with thought! . . . That they did in fact travel as the speed of thought from one place to another!  They are absolutely marvelous creatures created by the Most High!”

I continued with the sermon:

The Lord’s Angels were created by Him to minister to us who have salvation.  Hebrews 1: 14:  “Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?”

Angels minister to us, and not we to them.

The fact that the Lord God comes as an Angel, as the Angel of the Lord, gives us a clue that He is also here to minister to us.
