Introduction

I am set for the defence of the Gospel, Paul said (Philippians 1: 15 – 17).

Now, Jesus, set for the defence, like none other. He was the very evidence of God. He was the very express, evidence, of the living God. He was the evidence of God.

They tried to kill that evidence, but they found out they couldn’t kill it. It only lived again. Because the evidence was eternal, saith the Lord. That means always.

But did you know, Jesus came out of eternity, transcending the fourth dimension, and all dimensions, and came down as the living word? And He transcended time and space to come to us, and walk among us. John 1: 10.

But it was hidden in Christ when He appeared as a man in flesh, and Satan didn’t hardly know who He was at that time. He knew it in a minute when He said thou shall worship the Lord thy God, and Him only. He fled from Him. It said he left Him immediately. Matthew 4: 9 – 10. Are you for the defence? That’s part of the defence of the gospel.

If you believe that the Lord Jesus is “The mighty God”, that is part of the defence of the gospel. Isaiah 9: 6.

Stand for that defence in divine love, don’t let them steal it from you. You’ll become the elect in great power across the earth. The Lord Jesus has His children throughout the whole earth.

All things were created by the Lord Jesus. And if He created everything that was created, including thrones and everything else, and Satan, and everything else, He knows how to handle it. Colossians 1: 14 – 17.

Many more people are going to see the truth. They’re going to see the power of God like it’s never been seen before.

Unto you who know that there is no other God besides the Lord Jesus is given His Kingdom to rule with Him for eternity. He is coming shortly to take us to His palace in heaven.

But the gospel should be preached without contention, without argument, grounded and rooted in divine love. And then you are set for the defence. And if you have these revelations of God, you will win every time.

I’ll tell you, if anybody is set for the gospel, at the end of the age, it’s the Lord Jesus. And He will be on our side.

Are you set for that kind of defence, or do you believe in three gods? You say three gods? That’s right. That’s Catholic, that’s where it originated from. It’s not out of the Book of Acts. It’s not in the name of the Father, Son, Holy Spirit. It’s Catholicism, and they all picked it up.

God has three manifestations, and He works in all three of them as the Holy Spirit.

Now, we don’t serve any three gods. No, no, no. That will get you into Rome quicker than anything else I know of. Finally, at the end of the age, it will just get you in anything that’s got a mark on it.

If you believe that there is a separate God the Father, a separate God the Son, and a separate God the Holy Spirit, you will get into the Catholic spirit quicker than anything else could get you there. It will finally get you into the mark of the beast during the great tribulation.

When the gospel, like Paul, and all through the Bible, when it’s preached by divine love, authority, and power, and preached properly, it’s the most loveliest thing that God created. It has wings, and will carry you away.

It’s wonderful to know the full revelation of the Lord.

Summary of the Sermon

We listened to a sermon titled “The Defense”, CD # 1135, preached by Brother Neal Frisby.

In the sermon, Brother Frisby said:

The defense of the Gospel: In the world today, same as in Paul’s day, you running up against so much apostacy, so many types of cult, and confusion, and there’s forces that’ll come up against you, and you have to know how to have a defense, the shield, the helmet, the armor of the gospel. You must be for the defense of the gospel, or they’ll steal it right away from you.

What is the defense? What is your judge? And who is your lawyer? It is the word. It is the Judge; it is the lawyer of all things. In the Bible, the Apostle Paul, during his time, he kinda couched where he was at. He didn’t say much about his trial, he didn’t mention it too much. Because he was preaching in such a way that not only his day, down in Jerusalem, and in Rome too, but also in our day, that these things will take place. And so, he kind of hid the trial that he was in, when he begin to reveal this.

Philippians 1, 15 through 19, now the challenge: The setting was in Nero’s court at the time. But he only mentioned Caesar at the end of the chapter. Now, during this time, in one place, I think it is 1 Philippians 13, he said in the palaces, have known of my bonds, and the people there, and then finishing it in Philippians 4: 22, he said that all the saints, chiefly the household of Caesar, salute you.

But some had been touched by the gospel. He didn’t want to say anything. And some had been won by the Lord Jesus Christ though Paul’s steadfastness.

The defense for the gospel: They couldn’t back him down. They couldn’t change anything that he said anywhere. He stood the test, he stood the ground, he was for the defense of the gospel, and Nero knew it. He couldn’t back him down.

People were converted because of his stand for the gospel, years before they could get him there. But others had begun to do things that looked bad on Paul. And that begin to draw him in, see, to a quicker trial.

Philippians 1: 15: Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife as they’re preaching it. And some also of good will, Paul said.

The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely. They preach it to argue the Godhead. They preach it to argue this, preach it to argue that. Pretty soon, they’re just a cult, just to arguing about things. And Paul said they do these things here.

And not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds. They were jealous of Paul too in many different ways. They were adding affliction to him while he was in Rome. The way they were doing things, arguing, and so forth like that.

But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel.

And when I caught that, I looked around, and said that’s courtroom talk right there. That’s what we use today.

Quickly I went back up and read in the palace. I said that sounds like here, and I flipped to the end of the chapter, and he said the household of Caesar, the saints chiefly, salute you, in the household of Caesar when they work there, but not him.

I caught the courtroom by the Spirit of God.

He couched what he was doing. He didn’t say anything about his trial, much very little, because the gospel is first place in Paul’s heart.

Can you ever imagine, knowing that soon he will go for the last time before that Roman court? He couldn’t stay it for always, but he stayed it long enough to save more souls.

Can you ever imagine how that man felt when he knew that the end had finally come? That he had preached his last message, that he had won his last soul, that he had written his last paper in ink. Did you imagine how that man felt?

You know that silence in heaven? And it said there was a silence in heaven for a space, about 30 minutes. He saluted those kind of men. How many of you believe that? That’s exactly right. That’s part of that, not all of it, but part of it.

And when he knew he was finished, he had finished his course, there was a crown for him. Like I can imagine in my heart, the great compassion, knowing the great champion had to lay it down, he was finished. Can you realize how he felt in his heart? But, oh, when he finished his course, his mind turned towards the paradise that God said will be waiting for you, when you lay the pen down.

Now watch Paul, never letting the devil defeat him, always working things for the gospel, no matter what.

He said I am set for the defence of the gospel.

What then, notwithstanding, in every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached: and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice, because he said Christ is preached, and that’s good enough for me. Whether they are arguing or not, the name is getting out there. He settled for that.

Whether they are doing it by contention, or preaching Christ, whatever they are doing, he said the word of God is still going out there. So, he settled for that. He said I rejoice, and I do rejoice.

For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit. Now, you’ve got to be set for the defence of the gospel, steadfast, and you have to have a supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ.

So, who is Jesus Christ? I want a supply of Jesus Christ. That’s the One that works the miracles, that is the One that does the saving. So he said, give me a supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ. Now, the Holy Spirit, it mentions it over and over, but right here, the Spirit of Christ.

Psalm 129: 2 and 3, for the case of Israel, and for David: Many a time have they afflicted me from my youth: yet they have not prevailed against me. That’s Paul, same way. The plowers plowed upon my back: they made long furrows when they did. The plowers have plowed upon my back. Same thing as in the case of Israel. But he said they will lose the battle, for God will win. And they did not prevail against me.

Now, plowers plow upon my back, they made long furrows. Jesus said by these stripes, you are healed, and His back was plowed too; set for the defence of the gospel in those stripes. It is set for the defence, and that gospel is going to win, in the power of the gospel.

Now, Enoch was so set, they could not change his preaching. Enoch was set for the gospel, and the Bible said in Jude how he preached, and how powerful he was, until he was so set for the defence of the gospel that the giants, no matter how large they were, no matter how violent and how dangerous they were, he was set for the defence. And the Bible said that he went away without seeing death in colorful lightning, in a wheel of fire. I believe that, like Elijah. He was set for the defence, and he left.

You know what that means, it means to defend the gospel, hold to the word, contend for the faith, contend for the word; you are contending for the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Noah, set for the defence of the gospel given to him. Built an ark, defying all the antediluvians, and went away himself. He was set.

Abraham was set in such a way for the defence of the gospel, and the word that God had given him. He told Lot, I am set on this mountain, for the defence of the gospel. Lot went that way. He was so set that he would offer up his own son as a sacrifice to God.

Job was set for the defence of the gospel. Finally he said, though God slay me, I will trust Him. Paul, same way. See how that Spirit runs. It is powerful.

Jacob, set for the defence. All night, he wrestled with the Judge of heaven. All night, set for the defence, he couldn’t be shaken, he got what he wanted. Israel’s kind of being like that, but it matches what he did for them there.

Jesus was set for the defence of the gospel, the living word. He was set for the defence. About 50 pounds lighter, He returned. He was set for the defence. 40 days and nights in fasting in the wilderness. About 50 pounds, 45 to 50 pounds, lighter. He was set for the defence, and run right into Satan, set for the defence of the gospel. And when He run into Satan, He said it is written, worship the Lord thy God, in Him only, and he fled from Him.

And one time, Satan tried to show Him, during that time, just before that, before he fled when He said that; that ended it for him. He took Him up, transcending time and space in the fourth dimension, showing Him clear up into our age. But did you know, Jesus came out of eternity, transcending the fourth dimension, and all dimensions, and came down as the living word? And He transcended time and space to come to us, and walk among us? Satan showed Him nothing new, saith the Lord. All is foreknown, and when He come out of there, about 40 or 50 pounds lighter, He was set for the defence, and Satan or no demon could come up against it either. He fixed it. He had it fixed. He had it done well.

That’s why you’re called the elect, if you are set, and you believe this here.

So, He was set. The death and the resurrection, He won His case. And the Bible, as we have today, case is closed. As far as God is concerned, your salvation is all around you. Your healing is all around you. It is finished. He has defeated Satan, case closed.

Moses was set for the defence of the gospel. No matter how many rabble-rousers, no matter how many of them went up against him, no matter how many of them wanted to turn back after seeing all of the miracles, he said I’m set for the defence, and he was. And God, by that rod, he was set. He went up against all of the empire of Egypt with that rod and God. He was set for the defence of the gospel. They got across by Joshua, but he led them that far in there, and he was set.

You know, one time in Jude, Satan came up. It was like a courtroom drama. He contended for the body of Moses, like all the rest of them had went, except the two that got out by translation. He was set for the defence. But by that time, the other one had gone, Enoch, and later Elijah, but he was wanting that body.

And Michael, the Archangel, contested him. And Michael was set for the defence of the gospel. He said, The Lord rebuke you, you devil. He didn’t get that body either. And they argued about it there for a moment. It wasn’t much of an argument. I think it’s only a few words there, and that ends it, right there. He was set. No one got that body, it’ll be used. God knows what He’s doing, set for the defence.

Daniel, you never knew which way the king will go, from one time to the other, early in that empire. Now, after the king was gone, he straightened him out, come new ones on the throne; different court arose against him because he prayed. His heart was set for the defence of the gospel. And he looked towards Jerusalem three times a day, and he prayed in his window, and they were against him.

Daniel, in the lions’ den, when they throwed him in, he was set for the defence, and the lion couldn’t go across that defence; he was spellbound as Daniel pettied him, and walked around with all those lions in there. It’s probably, maybe, anywhere from 5 to 10. And that defence, armor, was upon him.

The king hollered, O my, Daniel, because they made him sign it, he didn’t want to sign it. Live for ever, O king. That shows something about faith in the king which couldn’t do nothing about it at the time because of the kind of ruling they had in their courts, and then he got him out. They throwed the rest in there to see if there was some kind of little magic, they weren’t hungry. They weren’t set for the defence of the gospel, saith the Lord, and they were chewed up.

Three Hebrew children, to back it up in the mouth of three more witnesses, said, cast them in the fire, and see if they’re still contending. Cast them in this fire, and see if they’re set for the gospel they talk about. They were set for the defence. And when they throwed them in there, the main Judge was with them, walking among them.

Paul said I am set for the defence. Unshakeable, unmoveable, and he wrote that himself. And just right about this time, he said I can do all things through Christ Jesus. And the gospel went forth, without an error.

So the three Hebrew children, set for the defence.

Elijah, Carmel, and fire, was set for the defence of the gospel. You call on your gods, I’ll call on my God. 800 Baal prophets, 400 of them were led away and destroyed. He was set for the defence of the gospel. He went away in that chariot because he was set for the defence.

We have Peter, Matthew, Luke, Mark, John, was set for the defence of the gospel.

And at this time, another Roman Emperor, after Paul had risen, one of the real, cruel, and they put him on the Isle of Patmos to die, by the Roman court, by the Roman government, it was. He said I am set for the defence of the gospel, and I will not change. And they put him on the Isle of Patmos. And because he was set for the defence, the great Judge appeared in white hair, and the seven golden candlesticks, and talked to him. And he saw the most beautiful things, and the whole Book of Revelations from God.

When the gospel, like Paul, and all through the Bible, when it’s preached by divine love, authority, and power, and preached properly, it’s the most loveliest thing that God created. It has wings, and will carry you away.

And the Sun of righteousness shall rise in Malachi, with healing in His wings.

The defence of the eternal Spirit, the evidence of God, the eternal Spirit, the word of the living God.

We’re coming to the end of the age in apostacy. You’ll be challenged. They’ll try to persecute you. It will come just before the translation, when great power comes. You’ll be challenged by the cults, by the false ones, by the quacks. No what you are doing, and you will win.

Ephesians chapter 3, 9: And to make all men see in the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Christ Jesus. He’s been around a long time, not just in Bethlehem. It said all things were created by Christ Jesus.

Paul said I am set for the defence. He said give me a supply of the Lord Jesus, to tip us off.

Are you set for that kind of defence, or do you believe in three gods? You say three gods? That’s right. That’s Catholic, that’s where it originated from. It’s not out of the Book of Acts. It’s not in the name of the Father, Son, Holy Spirit. It’s Catholism, and they all picked it up.

He said about the mystery, from the beginning. Do you know His mystery of fellowship?

To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God. What is the manifold wisdom of God? The Lord Jesus.

According to the eternal purpose which He purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord, eternal purpose. Now, if it’s an eternal purpose, it never started. And if He created everything that was created, including thrones and everything else, and Satan, and everything else, He knows how to handle it.

I am set for the defence.

They’re going to see the power of God like it’s never been seen before. They’ll see it in every measure, never has seen before.

According to the eternal purpose.

In whom we have boldness and access and confidence by Him.

Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth are named, Lord Jesus.

Will strengthen you with might, by His power, and the Spirit, in the inner man.

That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith, that we being rooted and grounded in love.

I am set for the defence, before Nero, before all of Rome. I will not give an inch. I will stand. I am set for the defence. He was a lawyer, for God, before Nero. He had the word, and the One with him was a Judge, and a Lawyer.

May be able to comprehend with all Saints what is the breadth, and the length, and the depth, and the height, and to know the love of Christ.

Have you learnt the breadth, the length, the depth, and the height? That’s coming. Those dimensions he just mentioned are not known to all the Saints. Again, what is the breadth, what is the length, what is the depth, what is the height? Can you comprehend it all, Saints?

And to know the love of Christ, which passes knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God. Now, there’s your height, your breadth, and all of that coming, and revelation power, and the manifold wisdom of God is right with you there.

Now unto Him that is able, and exceedingly abundantly, above all that we may ask or think, according to His power that worketh in us.

Unto Him be glory in the church by Jesus Christ throughout all ages, world without end.

Now, are you set for the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ?

Do above all that you may wish, think, or know of, if you learn the height, the breadth, and the dimensions of all that gospel.

Then Paul goes over here, in verse 4, in chapter Ephesians 4: There is one body, there is one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling.

I am set for the defence.

Listen to this: One Lord, one faith, one baptism. Are you set for the defence?

There is one baptism.

No matter how many times they kind of tell you, it’s not true.

Did you know in the Roman church, in different places, they have all kinds of different types? But here, there is one Lord, there is one faith, and there is one baptism. And if you are set for the defence of the gospel, you are contending for the faith that God has left us.

In the manifold wisdom of God, and all of these things will come to the Saints at the end of the world.

David said the plowers have plowed over my back. They have left long furrows, but they shall not win. Their grass won’t even get that high, he said it will blow away, like a vapor.

So he was set, he was contending, but the gospel should be preached without contention, without argument, grounded and rooted in divine love. And then you are set for the defence. And if you have these revelations of God, you will win every time.

And I believe at the end of the age, in those famous words that Paul spoke, from the very creation of the prophets, right up until the age in time that we live in now, those very words, I am set for the defence of the gospel, is why he laid it right in there.

And yet, he couched himself. In his writings, you’ll never know he was anywhere near a courtroom, except he mentioned the words palaces and he signed off that he’d written it from Rome, and some had been converted.

Caring for the gospel, that other was trivial to him, anyway. He won’t even mention the man’s name. But, yet, in the Book of Acts, he mentioned Claudius twice, and he said Caesar several times.

I tell you of truth, God is real. And at the very end of the age, every one of the ones that love the Lord are going to be set for the gospel. You are going to have to because you’re going to be challenged, like I said, from the cults, from the quacks, from mystery Babylon, saith the Lord. And from Laodicea shall also share in their part, and I will spew them out.

I’ll tell you, if anybody is set for the gospel, at the end of the age, it’s the Lord Jesus. And He will be on our side, and if God be for us, it don’t matter who’s against us. I believe we have a champion, the Lord Jesus, by our side.

Contend for the faith, get a supply of the Spirit, a supply of the faith. He said a supply of the Lord Jesus, for in that name, all miracles come forth, saith the Lord.

If you are set in your heart, and you are on the Rock, and not on sand, but on the Rock of the word of the Lord Jesus Christ, you’re going to make it.

As the age closes out, now, there’ll be controversy. They’ll come up against the true saints in every manner that they can, they will.

Faith, manifold wisdom, that supply of the Spirit of the Lord Jesus Christ, is translative faith. And those dimensions that he talked about, is going to take the church on out of here, we’re going to go away.

Many more people are going to see the truth. They’re going to see the power of God like it’s never been seen before.

“Behold what I have spoken about the water is true! What I have spoken about my name is true! It is I the Lord Jesus which has spoken unto my people the Bride! And unto them who will take my name will become my Bride. And unto her is given my Kingdom to rule with Me! For she has spiritually married me and has taken my name the Lord Jesus Christ, for she is My own, the very handy work of my spirit! For even now the time must shortly come when I will take her to My palace. Watch! I say watch! – Behold now is the end of the age come! And I will reveal hidden manna! I was God walking in the body of Jesus, walking the hot roads of Galilee, and gave rest to the weary! Healing the sick of Israel! I am your Lord let no man deceive thee! And there is no other God besides Me! Behold I have hidden myself in Jesus in such away that the foolish virgins and the world can not see Me, Until the time that I shall reveal it, but My Elect was born to believe it and another they will not hear I AM ALPHA AND OMEGA, YEA A MANS HAND HAS NOT WRITTEN THIS, BUT THE HAND OF POWER THE LORD OF HOST HAS WRITTEN IT!

Now, we don’t serve any three gods. No, no, no. That will get you into Rome quicker than anything else I know of. Finally, at the end of the age, it will just get you in anything that’s got a mark on it.

If you believe that there is a separate God the Father, a separate God the Son, and a separate God the Holy Spirit, you will get into the Catholic spirit quicker than anything else could get you there. It will finally get you into the mark of the beast during the great tribulation.

When the gospel, like Paul, and all through the Bible, when it’s preached by divine love, authority, and power, and preached properly, it’s the most loveliest thing that God created. It has wings, and will carry you away.
